In a unanimous vote the NFPA membership has approved NFPA2010. Aero-K first approached the NFPA standards counsel about a standard for aerosols as a Halon 1301 replacement agent in 1996. At the time, there was not enough general industry interest to reach a balanced committee, Halon was all there was. The rest of the fire industry was chasing HFC and PHFC gasses for the EPA SNAP list. Now, nine years later, we have a standard for the USA. The new standard has met no opposition at the association technical meeting. The documents that the Standards Council issued will go into effect on August 18, 2005, which will become the official effective date for the new NFPA 2010 Standard.

The newest technology in fire suppression, NFPA2010 "Aerosol Extinguishing Technology", was passed at the general session. Aero-K is now available under NFPA2010. NFPA2010 has the same fire test protocols as NFPA2001; it uses the same requirements as NFPA2001, and the same UL/FM listing test methods as NFPA2001. It’s simply better than 2001 because there are no post combustion byproducts, and it will not kill you after its use. Aero-K does not replace the oxygen like CO2, has No Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) after the fire, and has no environmental impact. No pressure leaks, No bottles, No pipes. Aero-K just offers a higher level of safety than Halon 1301. Aero-K dealers, resellers and installers around the world would like to thank the NFPA and the committee members of NFPA2010 for this new standard in fire suppression.
